Research cluster 04
Culture, Health & Wellbeing
Exploring how artificial intelligence is transforming culture, creativity, health and wellbeing, while examining its implications for identity, participation, knowledge and human experience.
ABOUT THE CLUSTER
Understanding AI through Culture and Human Experience
Artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly embedded in how people create, communicate, and engage with cultural and social life. Generative technologies in particular are changing relationships between people, creative practices, cultural heritage and knowledge.
This cluster explores the intersections between AI, culture, health and wellbeing. It considers how emerging technologies can support creativity, cultural participation, and human wellbeing while examining the new risks and inequalities they may create.
The cluster brings particular attention to diverse cultural perspectives and forms of knowledge, recognising that responsible approaches to AI must account for different values, histories and experiences rather than assuming that technological development takes place within a single universal context.
Areas Of Focus
Exploring AI, Culture and Human Wellbeing
The cluster examines how artificial intelligence is influencing cultural expression, knowledge and wellbeing, and how technological development can better reflect the diversity of human experience.
01
AI, Creativity & Cultural Production
Exploring how generative and other forms of AI are transforming creative practices, cultural production and relationships between technology, creators and audiences.
02
Cultural Heritage & Knowledge
Examining opportunities and challenges associated with using AI to preserve, interpret and engage with cultural heritage, languages and diverse forms of knowledge.
03
Health & Wellbeing
Investigating how AI intersects with health and wellbeing, including the social and cultural contexts that shape how technologies are experienced, trusted and used.
04
Cultural Diversity & Representation
Considering how cultures, identities and perspectives are represented within AI systems and how more inclusive approaches can recognise diverse values, histories and knowledge systems.
